Victoria’s renewable and clean energy industry: A boost has been given to Victorian geothermal projects with two companies awarded $14 million in drilling grants from the Federal Government. Victorian geothermal projects awarded $14 million dollars in government grants. Two companies were awarded $7 million dollars each to help fund drilling projects to tap into the power below the earth’s surface.

‘The Hot Rock’ project at Koroit (near Warnambool) Victoria received federal government funding of $7 million dollars.

‘Green Earth Energy’s’ Geelong Geothermal Power Project, near Anglesea Victoria received federal government funding of $7 million dollars.

Victoria has huge renewable resource potential and the Vic Government, working together with the Federal Government assisting industry to invest in developing the technologies needed to unlock this potential.

The grants follow on from $25 million of Victorian Government funding toward stage one and two of the Green earth Energy project, which could eventually provide power to more than 120,000 homes with clean, renewable energy.

“These drilling grants are good news for all Victorians and have the potential to provide not only environmental benefits from cleaner electricity generation, but economic benefits from new renewable energy jobs.”
